What is strategic enrollment management?

Strategic enrollment management is a comprehensive process designed to help an institution achieve and maintain the optimum recruitment, retention and graduation rates of students, where ‘optimum’ is defined within the academic context of the institution. (Dolence, 1993).

Ohio State’s strategic enrollment plan must

  • Aligned with our mission, vision, and values (including our goal to be the model 21st century land grant institution)
  • Bolster the six pillars of the Academic Plan
  • Facilitate the success of all students on all campuses

The work of strategic enrollment management helps institutions to optimize net tuition revenue, academic quality, reputation, student time to degree, student debt and the overall student experience — and that work is integrated and connected with all the facets of the university.
